It now looks as if two separate plans will be put before the house and senate.
Among the key sticking points are the Democrats’ desire to scrap an 8 million dollar cut in aid for childless adults within certain income guidelines.
There was also disagreement on a proposed 9 million dollar boost in unclaimed property revenue related to stock market holdings.
Democrats favor it while Republicans are opposed.
Senate president Beth Edmonds says lawmakers want to have a revised budget in place by April 1st to avoid a new curtailment order from Gov. John Baldacci.
