On Monday, the appropriations committee hammered out two key cuts to the state’s health and human services budget, before adjuring for the night at 10:45pm.
Members ended up backing a modified prescription drug plan aimed at Mainers earning under $10,400 a year.
They also voted to restore $2.4 million of the proposed $3 million in cuts to Purchased Social Services.
P.S.S. is a Human Services catchall that includes programs such as domestic violence prevention, a sexual assault hotline, child care for low income families, and prevention of child abuse and neglect, to name but a few.
The committee reconvenes Tuesday morning at 10 for further reviews.
