Budget Cut Hearing

Members on the appropriations committee held public hearings today, listening to citizens from as far away as Houlton.

Fourteen jobs in that town are targeted in the governors plan to reduce spending by 95-million dollars.

Lawmakers will decide whether or not to close the state revenue office in Houlton which would wipe out eleven of those positions, and shift three of them to Augusta.

Senior tax examiner, Nancy Ketch says the office brings in nearly 8-million a year in revenue for the state.
