Increased Patrols on Trails

Maine officials are bolstering enforcement

on the snowmobile trails.

A week after five snowmobile-related fatalities in Maine,

Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap says Bureau of Motor Vehicles

investigators will join Maine wardens in enforcement efforts on the

state’s trails.

Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Commissioner Dan Martin welcomes

the help, saying this collaboration may save a life. Maine has had

nine snowmobile deaths since January 4th.

The motor vehicle investigators will assist Maine game wardens

at several locations across the state, including checkpoints and

road crossings frequented by snowmobile traffic, for the next three

weekends starting today.
