Authorities say the stabbing started out as a domestic situation between 19-year-old Travis Roggiero, his ex girlfriend, and the 22-year-old victim who was with her at a home on the Mines Road.
They say the verbal altercation turned suddenly physical when Roggiero drew a knife, and cut the victim in the left chest and and upper right arm.
The victim was able to call the Hancock County sheriff’s department and tell them what happened.
He has since been released from the hospital.
Roggiero made his first court appearance Monday afternoon, charged with aggravated assault and violating his bail on a previous charge.
He is being held without bail at the Hancock County jail.
