Aiden Simon Mackle of Portadown, Northern Ireland, is accused of telling Delta Air Lines employees that he was a terrorist after drinking and becoming unruly on a flight from Atlanta. It was diverted to Bangor International Airport early Saturday.
Court documents indicate Mackle punched an off-duty Delta employee and made threats about either hijacking or destroying the airplane.
Mackle, 44, will remain in jail pending a detention hearing Wednesday in federal court. He’s charged with assault and interfering with a flight crew.
