Holden Accident

Updated 6 years ago

Route 1A in Holden was shut down for much of Tuesday morning and afternoon as crews recreated an accident that sent a man to the hospital.

The accident took place around 7:30 Tuesday morning in front of Gillies Truck Caps and Accessories on Route 1A.

Holden Police Chief Gene Worcester says 32-year-old Kenneth Bryant of Clifton lost control of his pick up truck on the icy road and spun into the opposite lane hitting a box truck driven by 44 year old Thomas Walsh of Mount Vernon.

Bryant was taken by helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center with multiple injuries, including one to the head. His condition is not known at this time.

Walsh was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation, but Chief Worcester says it looks like icy roads and high speeds on those conditions played roles in the accident.
