State of the National Guard

But Maine’s highest ranking soldier says we shouldn’t be worried.

State Command Sergeant Major Gregory Small says the role of the National Guard is to help with state and federal missions.

He says Maine is well-staffed with National Guard Troops… at any given time, the guard can call 17 to 18-hundred soldiers to active duty to handle local emergencies.

He says locally the National Guard is quite ready to handle springtime flooding forest fires even a terror attack.
