With votes counted from 96% of the towns holding caucuses last weekend, the former Massachusetts governor winds up with 52%, John McCain with 21%, Ron Paul with 18% and Mike Huckabee with 6%. Undecideds accounted for 2% ofthe votes.
The percentages are very close to what they were at last count when a little more than two-thirds of the towns’ ballots were counted.
The focus now shifts to the Maine Democratic Party, whose municipal caucuses will be held Sunday across the state.
Party caucuses will send 3,556 delegates to the state convention in Augusta, where national delegates will be chosen based upon the percentage of the vote each candidate receives. Maine has 24 national delegates.
