Waterville Woman Charged With Embezzlement

A 51-year-old woman has been charged

with stealing nearly $1 million over the past five years from her

father’s business.

Paula Caron of Waterville was indicted by a Kennebec County

grand jury on a charge that she embezzled the money from Winslow

Aluminum in Vassalboro, where she worked as a bookkeeper.

Caron’s father, Don Maheu, started the business in 1974 and is

company president. Her uncle is a vice president and part owner.

Prosecutors say the embezzlement case, estimated at around

$900,000, is the largest they can recall in central Maine.
