It took the jury about 3-hours on Thursday to convict 62-year-old Larry Leighton on two counts of aggravated assault and one count of criminal trespass.
Back in November of 2006, Leighton burst into the victim’s home in Milford and began slashing the women with a small knife.
They fought back with a rolling pin, and Leighton fled the scene.
During his trial this week, Leighton claimed he was just trying to defend himself.
He said he went to the home to buy drugs illegally, and began poking the women with the knife when they became violent with him.
In the end, however, the jury didn’t believe it.
":This was a case where the victims were really put on trial, and it’s unfortunate since they did nothing wrong in this case.": Assistant District Attorney Greg Campbell told TV5 at the completion of the trial. ":They were inside their own home, brutally attacked by Mr. Leighton.":
Leighton is being held in the Penobscot County jail, without bail, waiting to be sentenced.
