Thursday the hospital shared details on the 253-million dollar project.
It’s one step in the process to receive state approval.
The plans call for an eight-story tower on the State Street property and would expand upon existing facilities too.
The new tower would add 65 beds to the hospital, all private rooms.
The tower would also house both the in-patient and out-patient operating areas. And it would make room for a Women and Infants Facility, as well as add on to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
It’s a long-term, multi-phase plan for the hospital.
She says construction wouldn’t begin until the summer of 2009 at the earliest.
It would take a couple years to build the tower and about ten years to complete the entire expansion.
