An 18-year-old Limerick man has been charged with aggravated assault in connection with a hit-and-run snowmobile accident that seriously injured a man who was walking his dog.
The Maine Warden Service said Patrick Rosa was arrested Saturday night.
Investigator Phillip Dugas said officials are continuing their probe and believe others are involved.
Officials say 42-year-old Darrin Smith suffered two broken legs, a broken arm and other injuries when he was struck by a fast-moving snowmobile at 9:30 Friday night on the Limerick Air Field airstrip, which is behind his house. He was found in the snow by his 7-year-old daughter.
Earlier Friday, Smith had filed a complaint with the York County Sheriff’s Department because snowmobilers were using the airstrip, which had traditionally been open to snowmobiles but had recently been made off limits.
