Army Sergeant first class, Jonathan Lowery was killed last week when his unit came under fire in Mosul, Iraq. He was 38-years-old.
Sergeant Lowery served in the military for 21 years, and was recognized more than 41 times with awards and decorations for his accomplishments. He was serving his second tour of duty in Iraq when he died for our nation.
Family and friends are remembering Sergeant Lowery as compassionate, hard working, and a loving father.
Lowery’s body was given a procession through Houlton Thursday morning, where flags lined the streets.
A memorial service with full military honors will be held on Saturday at the Wesleyan Church in Houlton. The service will be followed by Lowery’s burial ceremony at Soldiers Hill cemetery in Houlton.
Governor Baldacci has ordered that all U.S. and Maine state flags be flown at half staff on Saturday.
