Skowhegan Fire

A Skowhegan couple is grateful to the town’semergency workersfor saving their pet’s life this weekend.

Fire broke out at a home on Silver Street Saturday night…the couple who live there weren’t in the house at the time, but their dog was.

When firefighters arrived, the home was engulfed in flames, with fire shooting out through the windows.

They managed to knock down the flames quickly…then two firefighters ran in and rescued the dog…an older golden retriever.

Emergency medical workers took over from there, working on the canine for quitesome time, until the dog stablized.

Fire officials say the home sustained major heat and water damage.

No word yet on what caused the fire…it’s still under investigation.
