Searchers recovered a body in Belgrade on Great Pond Sunday, where an aluminum skiff capsized, sending four people to the hospital, including three children. The accident had left authorities looking for a fifth
Lt. Pat Dorian of the Maine Warden Service said the victims were
a grandfather, father, and three sons, ages 14, 12, and 10, who
camp out on an island on the lake annually in November.
State police said the three children and one of the adults were able to make it to shore and were transported to an area hospital for possible hypothermia.
The missing man was identified aas 69-year-old Thomas Kopp of Waterville, who served as Senior Associate Dean of Admissions for Colby College.
His body was recovered from the lake Sunday morning at 10:30.
