Plum Creek Hearings

The Natural Resources Council of Maine and Maine Audubon said a dozen experts they hired to assess the project have detailed its adverse impacts, and will be available to testify next month before the Land Use Regulation Commission.

The wilderness zoning agency set the hearing dates for December 1st in Greenville, December 2nd in Augusta, December 15th in Portland and December 16th in Greenville.

The environmental groups say the Plum Creek plan, which includes 975 house lots and two major reorts, would damage the natural beauty and undeveloped character of the Moosehead Region.

Plum Creek says the criticisms are not new, and that the company will have its own experts at the hearing to offer a different viewpoint.
