A 28-year-old man is hospitalized after being shot by a sheriff’s deputy.
York and Cumberland County sheriff’s officials were called late Saturday night to the River Road home of Alexander Ronfeldt, who told police his estranged son was trying to gain entry to his home with a rifle.
Officials say the son, Peter Ronfeldt, threatened a Cumberland County deputy, who then fired his weapon and hit Ronfeldt twice.
According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, Ronfeldt was taken to Maine Medical Center with non-life threatening wounds.
The shooting is under investigation by the Maine attorney general’s office.
