Crews hit the road about 5 minutes after their department was reinstated by the Etna board of selectmen.
Last Monday, the board voted to shut the department down following a series of disagreements with some members, but at Monday night’s meeting, the board decided to remove that vote, putting the fire department and E.M.T.’s back in service.
However, the fire chief will still be on suspension for the time being.
The board has also decided to form a committee to help iron out remaining differences and to make sure everyone is clear on the town’s policy regarding the department.
The fire captain and E.M.T. chief will be in charge of the department until the board decides what to do next.
