Governor John Baldacci is asking voters to
approve three bond issues that will be on the Nov. 6 ballot in this
weekend’s radio address.
In his weekly talk, Baldacci says voters’ decisions will have a
lasting effect on Maine’s children and the state’s economic future.
The bond issues will be Questions 2, 3 and 4.
Question 2 will invest 55 million dollars in research and
development to support private-sector job creation and business
Question 3 calls for 43 million dollars in improvements and
renovations at state university and community college campuses and
Maine Maritime Academy.
Question 4 seeks 35.5 million dollars to replenish Maine’s land
conservation fund and preserve working water fronts and farm lands.
No organized opposition to the bonds has appeared.
Maine has two other statewide ballot questions, dealing with an
Indian racino and term limits.
