54 year old Jon Dilley was ordered to serve 60 years in prison for a double shooting back in August of 2004. That’s the maximum sentence allowed by law.
Dilley claimed that a mental condition caused him to kill his estranged wife, Chellie Calloway, and his mother, Sarah Murray, at his mother’s summer home in Boothbay Harbor.
In his appeal, Dilley says the judge should have barred testimony from a co-worker, and should not have allowed a statement by a domestic violence group during sentencing.
The appeal also says the sentence was improperly calculated, and that Dilley shouldn’t have received consecutive sentences.
