In Waldoboro, a local police officer shot an 18-year-old man following a traffic stop at about 2:15 Sunday morning.
Brian MacMaster is director of investigations for the state Attorney General’s Office. He says details of what happened are still not complete.
MacMaster says Waldoboro Officer Zack Curtis stopped a car driven by a juvenile.
18-year-old Gregori Jackson of Whitefield, who was riding in the car, got out and confronted Curtis.
Jackson then ran into a wooded area with Curtis in pursuit and a fight broke out. MacMaster says it was during that physical struggle that Jackson was shot.
MacMaster, state police, and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department are investigating.
