The fire started Thursday morning on Union Street in Glenburn.
Fire fighters say a car backfiring apparently started the fire. It then quickly spread to another building, and threatened to jump to a third.
Eric Strout of the Glenburn fire department says they were able to extinguish the fire within an hour. However, the two buildings contained several antique cars and tools that caused explosions, and a lot of the damage, and made fighting the blaze a bit tricky.
Firefighters from several surrounding towns lent a hand. Lieutenant Strout says that while they have a pretty good idea of what caused the fire, the state fire marshal’s office will make the final determination.
