Tableman Not Guilty of Setting Fire To Her Hermon Home

Melissa Tableman is guilty of setting fire to clothes in a sink in a home in Corinth back in 2004, but she is no longer charged with setting fire to her home on the Billings Rd. in Hermon in July of 2006.

These developments came after Tableman’s defense attorney, Don Brown, brought up the idea of other suspects, including Tableman’s husband.

Eric Tableman took the stand Wednesday afternoon, he invoked his fifth amendment rights and did not answer any questions involving his connection with the July 2006 fire in Hermon.

Melissa Tableman does not face jail time as part of the plea agreement. She received a three year suspended sentence and two years of probation.

Assistant District Attorney Mike Roberts says he still believes Melissa Tableman started the fire and has no plans to charge Eric Tableman or anyone else in connection with the fire.

Don Brown says he’s pleased at the outcome saying Melissa has said all along she did not set the fire.
