Maine State Police have identified the victim in a weekend shooting as a 50-year-old New Jersey man who was visiting his cousin in the town of Porter.
Spokesman Steve McCausland of the Maine Public Safety Department
identifies the dead man as Lawrence Talarico.
McCausland says Talarico was in the home of his cousin, 44-year-old Susan Talarico, when the shooting occurred.
Police seized a .22-caliber rifle that was used in the shooting, whichwas reported at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday to the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department and the victim’s body was found inside the single-family home off on Angel’s Rest Road when deputies arrived.
McCausland says one other person, a male friend of Susan Talarico’s, was in the house when the shooting occurred.
He says an argument apparently broke out, resulting in the shooting.
Detectives are awaiting autopsy results from the state medical examiner’s office before making any decision on charges.
