38-year-old Michelle Mills was being held pre-trial as a result of a murder charge in Hancock County. Mills was being held at Penobscot as a result of a request from Hancock County.
Mills was charged in connection with the January 2006 slaying of an elderly woman at her home in Southwest Harbor.
According to court documents, a dispute over money led to the killing of 83-year-old Jacqueline Evans. The weapon used was a small ceramic statue.
Mills pleaded not guilty to Evan’s murder in June 2006.
