Hampden Fire Worse Than Originally Thought

Fire crews got the call Wednesday night that there was a possible chimney fire at 1293 Carmel Road in Hampden, a fire that turned out to be much more.

The flames had spread into the structure while crews from Hampden, Carmel, and Newburgh sped to the scene.

Some family members were home when it started, luckly no one was injured in the fast-moving flames.

Lieutenant Firefighter Frank Coombs tells us that when the flames spread to the attic, the battle grew even tougher.

The second floor and the attic were heavily damaged, but Coombs tells us the home should be reparable.

There is still no word on what caused the fire.
