Speed Ruled Factor in Firefighter Death

It appears that speed and inexperience led to the crash of a fire truck that killed a volunteer firefighter in Springfield, back in May.

State police tell us that Peter Beebe-Lawson was driving the vehicle to a structure fire at Cole’s Shingle Mill in Prentiss, when he lost control of the truck while traveling on Route 169.

The tanker crashed into pine trees before overturning.

Police say Beebe-Lawson was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
