Police Officer Succumbs to Cancer

Bangor police officers are mourning the loss of a brother.

Officer Randall Parsons died Wednesday from complications of cancer.

He was 39.

Parsons had been with the department since 2003, then went on medical leave in 2006 when he became sick.

During that time, other Bangor officers worked for Parsons so he could continue to receive pay and medical insurance.

Officers also raised money to help Parsons and his wife pay medical bills.

This was Parsons’ third battle with cancer.

Deputy Police Chief Peter Arno says the police department and the citizens of Bangor have suffered a tremendous loss as a result of Parsons’ death.
