If you have the money, you can be the new owner of the Somerset County Jail!
County commissioners are selling the Skowhegan jailhouse to the highest bidder.
The building will be empty once the staff and inmates move into the new jail in October 2008, so Commissioners are trying to find a new use for the space.
The old jail was built in the mid-1800s and is across the street from the county courthouse.
Somerset County officials want ideas submitted by September.
They’re hoping the new owners will transform the jail into something that will create jobs.
