Maine farmers will soon be allowed to try their hands at growing genetically altered corn.
Officials from the Pesticides Control Board gave their stamp of approval on Friday, July 27th.
Farmers will be allowed to grow a modified corn that’s resistant to insects.
It won’t be for human consumption…just for animal feed.
Some organic growers oppose the genetically-modified crops…they’re afraid the altered corn might contaminate *their* crops…through cross-pollination.
