Verizon will pay 757 million dollars for Rural Cellular, which operates in Maine under the Unicel brand.
Verizon is the nation’s second largest wireless provider behind AT&:T.
Unicel operates in Maine and four other New England states.
Its parent company Rural Cellular provides cell phone service in a total of fifteen states.
The deal comes one month after AT&:T agreed to buy rural wireless service provider Dobson Communications.
