The section of Stillwater now under construction will be home to a new Home Depot next year, leaving the current building near springer drive empty….
The developer signed paperwork with the retailer to finalize that deal last week.
Two other major retailers are also leaving Springer for Stillwater: Wal*Mart and Shaw’s. But the city doesn’t play much of a part in filling the buildings left behind.
Rod McKay, the director of community and economic development for the City of Bangor says he has no doubt the buildings being vacated will be filled.
Lowe’s, for example, has already filed the initial paperwork to build a new store on the site of Wal*Mart, once the supercenter on Stillwater is finished.
The city is still waiting to hear next for the closed Smokey Bones restaurant on Springer Drive. It’s expected to be sold as a package with more than fifty other restaurants across the country.
