Volunteers hit the streets of downtown Bangor Saturday to try and clean up some of the city’s graffiti.
The folks from ":Keep Bangor Beautiful": organized the event.
They say while graffiti isn’t a *huge* problem in Bangor, it does exist…and they want to do their part to keep the downtown area looking good.
Volunteers painted over large areas of graffiti on a support column of the Penobscot River bridge…and also on a retaining wall near the Penobscot Plaza.
Event coordinator Kathy Guerin says it’s important to clean up the graffiti so it doesn’t send a negative message to visitors.
