Break in Wayne Murder Case

State police say John A. Okie of Newcastle is charged in the slaying of 19-year-old Alexandra &quot:Aleigh&quot: Mills, whose body was found by her father in their home in Wayne.

Lieutenant Gary Wright of the state police says Okie was arrested at about11:00 a.m.Tuesday morning at an uncle’s home in East Boothbay.

Monday night, police were called to Okie’s home in the midcoast town of Newcastle where they found the body of his 59-year-old father, John S. Okie.

Wright says police are in the early stages of their investigation into the father’s death, but the case is considered a homicide. Wright is not saying whether there is any link between the Okie and Mills homicides, but he says the slaying in Newcastle &quot:has nothing to do with the fact that we arrested John Okie this morning.&quot:

Wright also confirmed that Mills and the man charged in her death were classmates at Kents Hill School and knew each other.

John A. Okie is being held at the Kennebec County Jail in Augusta. He is scheduled to be arraigned at 9a.m. in Kennebec County Superior Court in Augusta on Wednesday.
