Maine Firefighters Recognized 

Battalion Fire Chief Bill Mcinnis from Slidell, LA will be in Maine today to officially recognize firefighters from Bangor, Portland and South Portland who aided their fire department in the wake of the 2005 Hurricane Katrina disaster.

McInnis is attending two official presentations. The first is scheduled for 10am at the Portland Fire Dept. H.Q. and the second is at the Bangor Fire Dept. Central Fire Station at 2pm.

Firefighters Tim Campbell, Bruce Johnson and Andy Willigar volunteered to go to Slidell, LA from late-October until mid-November 2005. These firefighters picked up the shifts of Slidell Firefighters so they could take time off to rebuild their homes.

The Maine Firefighters would work for 48 straight hours, and then get 24 hours off for nearly a month. On their days off the Maine Firefighters would do various volunteer work.
