The ":State of Maine": is back home in castine.
The Maine Maritime Academy’s training vessel returned Saturday night after a two-month cruise to southern and eastern Europe
More than 200 students and 55 crew members took part in the voyage.
They visited Gibraltar, Sicily and Croatia, and made a stop in Nova Scotia on their way back to Maine.
The journey took an unexpected turn when the ship’s captain, Larry Wade, suffered a stroke and had to be treated at an Italian hospital.
Wade’s family later brought him back to Maine, while the cruise continued on.
