The leaders of Eastern Maine Healthcare, Saint Joseph Hospital, and Penobscot Community Health Center have signed an agreement to work together in the hopes of building a healthier community.
The new Memorandum of Understanding allows the three to collaborate on health issues facing folks in the greater Bangor area.
St. Joseph Healthcare president sister Mary Norberta says they’ll work together to address community healthcare needs, and also share some resources to try and keep healthcare costs down.
The healthcare leaders are hoping to be able to access each other’s medical records in the near future, hopefully reducing the number of duplicate tests and procedures. And in turn lower healthcare costs.
The group plans to meet quarterly.
