(AP) – The report, released by the Commonwealth Fund, found huge disparities between care among the top states and those at the bottom.
The best-performing states were Hawaii, Iowa, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. The bottom five were Nevada, Arkansas, Texas, Mississippi and Oklahoma.
Maine ranked second from the top in two areas: quality of care and equity in providing care. But it did less well in terms of healthy living and in costs linked to avoidable use of hospitals.
