A 50-year-old motorcyclist from Hodgdon died Sunday in a Bangor Hospital of injuries suffered ina crash on Route 1 in Littleton that also claimed the life of his passenger.
State police say a car whose driver was asleep at the wheel crossed the center line at around 5:30 p-m Saturday and hit the motorcycle.
Dead at the scene was 50-year-old Joyce McGuire of Houlton.
McGuire was riding on the motorcycle operated by Roger Lewis, who was airlifted to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
Lewis was in critical condition and died Sunday.
The driver of the car, 54-year-old Burnam Morrell of Caribou, suffered minor injuries. Morrell’s passenger, 77-year-old John Hede of Caribou, was admitted to Houlton Regional Hospital.
After hitting the motorcycle, Morrell’s car continued on and struck a hearse that was returning from a burial.
The driver of the hearse, 48-year-old Tony Bowers of Island Falls, was treated and released.
The hearse was demolished.
