A man who made history at the University of Maine is ready to retire.
Robert Cobb is the longest-serving dean in UMaine history.
He’s served as dean of the School of Education for 30 years.
Cobb says he’ll retire at the end of june.
He says when he first became dean, he decided to move the Education department in a different direction, by involving Maine teachers, to try and determine how best to prepare students to become teachers.
Associate dean Anne Pooler will be the interim dean when Cobb retires.
The University plans a nationwide search for Cobb’s replacement.
