Folks in Bar Harbor braved the chilly weather Sunday to come out and celebrate Maine’s maritime heritage.
The first annual ":Working Waterfront": celebration kicked off at the town pier.
There was plenty of fun for boaters…including a blindfold boat race and a fastest trap pull contest.
There was also a blessing of the fleet in the harbor.
Folks on hand also took time to pay tribute to those who’ve lost their lives at sea.
Organizers say their goal was to host a fun day…but also to send an important message about the importance of Maine’s waterfronts.
They’re hoping to make the celebration an annual event.
