Funeral Bill

All protestors must now be at a &quot:reasonable distance,&quot: as determined by law enforcement.

The measure is designed to protect the rights of loved ones during memorial services and funerals, while also upholding a person’s first amendment rights.

Governor Baldacci, surrounded by members of the patriot guard, signed the bill into law Wednesday.

The law was created after a religious group started holding protests at funerals for fallen soldiers: saying they were struck down because they served a nation that tolerates homosexuality.
