Just before calling it a night, the panel voted in a variety of add-backs. The add-backs fund some items which had been previously cut from the original budget proposal.
The largest was eight million dollars for the University of Maine System and Maine’s Community Colleges, to help students pay for tuition costs.
Another 200-thousand will go towards a digital library system.
And, more than seven million dollars will be distributed to long term care facilities, domestic violence prevention, and disaster relief for the flooding victims of this spring’s patriot’s day storm.
The committee will reconvene Thursday, where they’ll tackle the education part of the budget.
