Change Fishing Regulations

The Downeast Initiative is made up of fishermen, scientists, and environmental groups. Their goal is to overhaul the system that’s now in place in order to restore Cod, Haddock, and other native stocks.

The Mainers are supporting a plan that allows regulations to vary from area to area, based on local economic and biological factors.

The current system tries to prevent over-fishing by limiting the number of days that fishermen can spend on the water.
