(AP) – Prosecutors chose not to pursue the criminal charge against Joseph Tellier after a judge’s ruling set the stage for another trial. Tellier’s first trial in March in York County Superior Court had ended with a deadlocked jury.
Tellier caused a stir last summer when he moved from Biddeford to an apartment near a school in Waterboro. He testified that after meeting with a detective and filling out paperwork he thought the information would be forwarded to the state.
Tellier served a 15-year sentence for the 1989 kidnapping and rape of a 10-year-old Saco girl. Since his release from prison, he has had problems finding a place to live because of opposition from neighbors. He currently lives in Parsonsfield.
