Ed Bither at Hall of Fame

CLARK THOMPSON KNOWS AS MUCH ABOUT THE HISTORY OF HARNESS RACING IN THE STATE AS ANYONE. AND WHILE RESEARCHING THE HISTORY OF A HORSEMAN NAMED ED BITHER, HE REALIZED THAT BITHER WASN’T IN THE HALL OF FAME. THOMPSON CAUGHT WIND OF AN EXHIBIT THAT WILL BE ON DISPLAY THIS SUMMER AND MANAGED TO GET BITHER RECOGNIZED AS PART OF THE EXHIBIT.

BITHER WAS BORN IN 1851 AND WAS A NATIVE OF CHARLSTON. HE WORKED WITH TROTTERS IN BANGOR AS A BOY AND LATER MOVED TO BIGGER TRACKS OUT OF STATE.

BITHER TRAINED THREE WORLD CHAMPIONS…. JAY-EYE-SEE, PHALLAS AND KREMLIN.

CLARK THOMPSON THINKS IT WAS AN OVERSIGHT THAT BITHER NEVER WAS NOMINATED TO THE HALL OF FAME AND THAT THE EXHIBIT THIS SUMMER WILL GIVE PEOPLE A CHANCE TO REMEMBER ONE OF THE GREATS WHO HAPPENS TO BE FROM MAINE.
