The State Medical Examiner’s office has completed its autopsy on a body found floating in the Saco River at Buxton, but the results won’t be released until positive identification is made.
Several teenagers spotted the body just before midnight Friday.
Authorities said the body appeared to be that of a female, but no other details were released.
The discovery raises questions as to whether the body is that of Coreen Wiese, the 15-year-old girl from Buxton who vanished more than six months ago.
She was last seen near a bridge that crosses the Saco between Standish and Limington.
Wardens said the search for Wiese has been suspended.
The medical examiner’s office is looking to dental records to help in the identification.
The results are not expected to be released until Tuesday at the earliest.
