It began when the Fire Marhsal’s office, along with Rangeley Police went to arrest an arson suspect. As they arrived at 53-year old charles brown’s home, they heard a gunshot.
Authorities decided to back off, calling in the state police tactical team for assistance. And that’s the way it remained until about 2:15 Thursday afternoon when the tactical team moved in.
Once they moved in, police learned that Brown had suffered a self inflicted gunshot wound to his head, one report said the face.
At last report, Brown was in serious condition.
The fire that he has being charged with setting destroyed a one story apartment building in Coplin Plantation on May 3rd.
