Bill Would Remove Some Sex Offenders off Registry 

Low risk offenders would be removed from the state’s sex offender registry under a proposal before lawmakers.

Another bill would remove people from the registry if they were convicted of sex offenses that were consensual and committed between people close in age.

The call to amend Maine’s sex offender registration rules comes a little more than a year after two men were stalked and shot to death by a man who got their names from Maine’s on-line sex offender registry.
